Remember a year ago when I posted the side view line drawing of a Nissan R35 GT-R? If so, you probably recall that it was an illustration I created as a test to see what it would be like to create an entire series of car illustrations in that style. My goal at the time was to see how long it would take to draw something like that, and trying to figure out if I could turn it into a side business or something. I already sell side view aircraft illustrations, so I figured that doing car drawings in the same style might be fun.
It’s wasn’t. Well, I take that back. I actually did enjoy the process, but it was exactly that: a process. I don’t have enough free time these days to add more projects and processes to my already busy workload, so I quickly decided to abandon the project that stay focused what I was already working on. It’s a bit of a bummer actually, because I think it would be fun to draw cars like that on a semi-consistent basis.
Earlier this year I had an idea for a t-shirt that I wanted to design, featuring one of my favorite cars of all time: the 1994-2004 SN95 Ford Mustang. Hey now…don’t laugh! They are crappy cars, I know, but they are also a lot of fun and offer a really huge bang for the buck. I’ve owned two in my life so far, so I do have a bit of an attachment to them – and that’s one of the reasons I wanted to make a t-shirt.
So I drew this line drawing of a 1998 Cobra Mustang. I had no idea what the rest of the t-shirt was going to look like, and thanks to my really short attention span, I never got around to figuring it out. Six months later, I still have no idea what I’m going to do with this so I might as well offer it up here on trashedgraphics.com.
Note: this is an unfinished vector illustration with open paths and not a whole lot of detail. (unlike, for example, my vector brake illustration which was super detailed).Be aware of that! I left if that way for maximum edibility, so you’ve got complete freedom in how you would like to finish this illustration.
Please do let me know what you do with this! I’m hoping that someone will turn it into the the t-shirt that I never got around to making myself. I’m a big enough SN95 fan that I’d even buy it if it’s cool enough!
